Head Coach Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field

Hello REDS Alumni,

As Head Coach of the UNB Cross Country and Track & Field programs, I'm thrilled to share an update on the incredible momentum we're building here at UNB. We're not just competing; we're establishing a legacy of championship-caliber performances, and your support is absolutely vital to fueling that success.

Last fall, our Cross Country teams delivered a resounding statement. The men's team roared to their second consecutive AUS Championship title, a testament to their dedication and grit. This dominant performance was punctuated by Jared Howse’s incredible second-place finish at the national championships – a truly remarkable achievement! We also swept the AUS major awards with the Men's Athlete of the Year, Men's Rookie of the Year, and 5 UNB runners named AUS First Team All-Stars. These accomplishments speak volumes about the talent we’re developing here at UNB.

We carried that momentum into the Track & Field season. At the AUS Championships in late February UNB brought home gold in the women's 4x200-metre relay, the women's 4x400-metre relay, the men's 4x800-metre relay, the men's 60-meter sprint, the women's triple jump, and the men's weight throw. UNB's Ashley Morrow was named the AUS Women's Rookie of the Year and UNB's Constance Gilman was recognized as the AUS Women's Volunteer Coach of the Year. A number of our athletes will travel to Windsor in early March to represent UNB at the National Track & Field Championships.

But our sights are set even further. Building a dynasty requires a constant influx of talent, and that's where our recruiting efforts become paramount. We've already secured commitments from top prospects like Alan Kearney and Zach Carter from Quebec, and Ottawa's Bridget Jeffrey, and we're aggressively pursuing other exceptional athletes across the country. These are the future stars of our program, the ones who will carry the torch and continue our winning tradition.

This is where you come in. This is the perfect time for our Alumni to invest in the future of UNB Track & Field and Cross Country. Your contributions to our scholarship funds directly impact our ability to attract and retain top-tier talent. Let's be clear: Recruiting at this level is a competitive landscape. Scholarship support is essential to making UNB a financially viable option for these exceptional athletes. It's the difference between them choosing UNB and choosing a competitor.

Furthermore, increased funding allows our coaches to dedicate more time to what matters most: recruiting and developing our athletes. We want to spend our time on the track, on the trails, and in the recruiting offices, not constantly scrambling for resources. Your generosity directly translates into more focused coaching, enhanced training, and ultimately, more championship banners for UNB.

We’re building something special here. We’re not just training athletes; we’re cultivating champions. Join us. Invest in our vision. Help us build a legacy that you can be proud of. Your support, at this critical juncture, will make all the difference.
